La Roseraie has been known as a hotel in Lucenay l’Évêque since 1856 and has been the center of the community. The house that had been empty for 23 years was completely renovated and turned into a very nice restaurant and chambres d’hotes (bed and breakfast) with private bathrooms in a french modern style. Each room with its distinct atmosphere and style.

From September 1st 2011 we, Ellen and Menno together with our son Yoshua (14 in 2023) are your hosts and we'll do our best to make your stay a pleasant and relaxed visit to Burgundy and the Morvan. Ellen and Menno have worked nearly all their lives in restaurants and hotels and Menno has worked as a professional photographer for many years.

La Roseraie is a splendid place to be yourself, whether you like peace and quiet, coziness or activity. All 3 rooms are situated on the second floor so you can fully enjoy the views of the surrounding hills.

At the front of La Roseraie is the village Lucenay l’Évêque, a typical little Morvan village with a renovated square, the town hall, a church and an astonishing amount of facilities for a mere 370 inhabitants. It has a grocery, pharmacy, bistrot, a brocante and some artisans among other things.

At the back of the house runs the river Ternin, a small but lovely water which attracts both painters, fishers as well as children who enjoy the water as their playground in the summer. Crossing the bridge over the river takes you straight into the woods of the national parc Morvan.  There is a tennis court only 200meters from La Roseraie that can be hired for a mere € 5,- per hour. And a ping pong table is available just 100m from our house. The Morvan also offers walking trails, cycling and even climbing. And there are some lovely lakes like Lake Pannecière , lake Chamboux, Lake st.Agnes and Lake Settons, 20 minutes drive (for activities like sailing). Every Tuesday morning Eric organizes a little vegetable and fruit market nearby.

In our restaurant we serve a fresh, home-cooked meal for guests that have a room in our house or in our gite. Other demands can be done in advance for a limited number of people. We serve a fixed (surprise) menu that will change every day, but you can always give us notice of diets or maybe preferences.

Furthermore we offer a cozy library with wood-stove and a terrace in the garden where breakfast, lunch and dinner is served on beautiful days. And a fully equipped kitchen where cooking-workshops can be organized. From time to time we will organize evenings with music in the restaurant. See the Agenda.
